Tuesday - 9th Lockdown Day

In the podcast of  Apocalypse News...

— Good evening! I'm Gabriel Carneiro and I bring you the breaking news. — Vignette 🎶 — The City Hall videoconference ended exactly ten minutes ago. There was a vote in which it was decided that municipal elections should be postponed by two months unanimously. The request will be forwarded to the State Assembly later tomorrow.

Two respirators have just arrived at our Medical Center. And during this week they will be installed and ten health professionals will be trained to handle it.

The Ministry of Health reports that Sentrália has 100 cases of Covid-19. 25 in a serious condition in the ICU. Now let's summarize the main news of the day. In the morning...

In the Square...

— Good afternoon! Priest, where are you going?

— Give the unction of the sick to Geraldo mechanic.

— I don't understand religion, Father. But I will accompany you and wait outside. Okay?

— Of course, Tomé. No problem.

In Pastor Elijah's Live...

— Hello brothers! I want to warn you not to forget the precautions to avoid Dengue. I just got notified that we have a case in town.

Today we are going to talk about healing. The selected passage was Mark ten verses 46 through 52.* The blind Bartimaeus. Are you like Bartimaeus or like the people? Bartimaeus was blind and when he heard that Jesus was there he cried out. When you're in trouble you shout, "Jesus help me!" — The pastor changes his voice and now he returns to his normal voice. — How many do not seek help in the enemy's places. It is as if I had a stomachache and instead of going to the doctor I went to the bakery. The candy will make me forget the pain for a while. But soon the belly pain will get much worse.

Returning to Bartimaeus. The first thing for Jesus to help us is to call on him. It seems obvious. But there are people who don't know how to pray. Praying is talking to God, God is a father, he is a friend and He is always with you. We need to be intimate with God.

The second thing is to go to Jesus. Without movement, things don't happen. Pastor, I want a job. How many resumes did you send? Pastor, I want a home. Have you done the math on how much you need to save per month? Pastor, I want a cure. Did you go to the doctor? I can even pray for you, but if you don't do your part, nothing will happen.

I wanted to ask your permission to give a message about my personal life. Since Thursday I have been praying to God to solve a personal problem. Yesterday Pastor Ismael, pastor responsible for our region, called me and said: "Elijah, as you know in Sentrália there is no faculty of theology. You were selected by the national council of our Church to do theology in Brazil." Next semester I start classes. On account of Covid will be online. But next year it will be in person. So I will not run for re-election. As much as I love this city. I love God even more. Thanks!

Now I will answer the questions and then we will pray for your intentions.

At Mister Geraldo's house...

— Mister Geraldo, you reminded me of an excerpt from the Bible**. — The priest opens the Bible and reads. — These days Rose asked me why there are doctors. And I didn't settle until I found that passage. You are right without science, we will not find Covid's cure.

— It's like the flood man. He took shelter on top of the roof and asked God to save him. A person came by boat, he refused. The firemen came by boat, he refused. A helicopter came, he refused. He drowns and when he arrives in Heaven he complains that God did not help him.

— Geraldo, God communicates with us through small signs. And we often ignore or don't believe it.

"And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way."

"God makes the earth yield healing herbs which the prudent man should not neglect;

Was not the water sweetened by a twig that men might learn his power?

He endows men with the knowledge to glory in his mighty works,

Through which the doctor eases pain and the druggist prepares his medicines;

Thus God's creative work continues without cease in its efficacy on the surface of the earth."
