Chapter 3 - The Travel

We were walking towards Cana. Cleo was walking beside me. She seemed to be scared. I don't think she had ever left the house. Jesus was walking ahead and every hour someone would walk with him to talk. The others walked in pairs, talking. And Magdalene was behind us. Then I noticed that she was very pale. I had no doubts:

"Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!" Cleo even jumped. – Jesus asked:

"What is it, Theo?" Everyone looked at me. And I tried to point to Magdalene with my paws. Jesus instructed:

"Magdalene, sit down and drink some water slowly. Theo, she needs fruit." I also knew how to pick fruit. I quickly climbed the first fruit tree I saw. Matthew and Judas Thaddeus went with me, I picked the fruit and they put it in a basket. As soon as we finished, we went back to Magdalene and Jesus. Magdalene thanked them:

"Thank you, boys." Peter said:

"I'm starting to get used to the cats." Matthew said:

"I hope they get used to us." Everyone laughed. After resting a little, we started walking again. Peter seemed very worried. If they had already invented cell phones, he would have called Eden many times. It was clear that they loved each other very much. But it wasn't just longing. It was concern. Eden's mother wasn't feeling well when we left. Eden had slept next to her mother every day we were there. The lady ate all her meals in the room. I wanted to ask Jesus to heal her. But who am I, a kitten who doesn't know much about the human world and even less about God.

We finally arrived at Cana, where the wedding would be held. Mary was helping to set up the tent. It's called Khupá (pronounced rupah). The bride and groom get married under it to confirm their marriage before God. Oh! When I saw Mary, I forgot that I was taking care of Cleo and ran to her.

"Theo! I missed you, didn't I!" She picked me up and petted me.

"This cat is not normal." John said.

"Meeeeeeeee!" Cleo grumbled.

"I think we're going to have two weddings." Matthew said. He picked Cleo up and put her under the Khupá. Mary placed a flower in Cleo's fur. Jesus patted each of us and said:

"Be happy and have lots of kittens!"

"Master, is this how cats get married?" Judas Thaddeus asked.

"They don't get married. They stay together for a while. Their lives are shorter than ours. And they don't have free will. They act according to their nature." Jesus answered.

I'm sorry, but I didn't get married or get together with Cleo back then. She was in her late childhood. All we did was play and I taught her to hunt doves. Later on, yes... but calm down, one paw at a time.

Back at the wedding, I was with Cleo under a bench eating fish. Then Mary came and spoke to Jesus:

“"They have no wine." (And) Jesus said to her, "Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come." His mother said to the servers, "Do whatever he tells you." Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washings, each holding twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told them, "Fill the jars with water." So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter." So they took it. And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, without knowing where it came from (although the servers who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter called the bridegroom and said to him, "Everyone serves good wine first, and then when people have drunk freely, an inferior one; but you have kept the good wine until now."” (John 2:3b-10)¹.

The next day we began our journey back to Capernaum. Mary went with us. We were going to pick up Eden, her mother, and the parents of John and James so we could go to the festivities in Jerusalem.

There is a merchant in Jerusalem who always gives me a piece of chicken. I had been dreaming about this for a while.

We arrived in Capernaum on Saturday. Andrew and I went home and the others went to the synagogue.

Andrew went to put away his luggage and I went to see Eden.

"Meow!"

"Theo, where’s Peter?” I stared at her, wondering how to say she is in the synagogue.

"Mimiaumi!"

"It was worth trying. You can keep an eye on her. I need to make some medicine for her."

"Meow!" I climbed into bed and Eden’s mother had a high fever. She was sleeping so deeply that it was scary. While she was keeping watch, Andrew went to get Peter and Jesus.

Epigraph from Matthew

Seeing the water being turned into wine was truly impressive. But when the groom found out what had happened, he ran to thank Jesus. He gave Jesus the best food. So that he would have a peaceful trip back. And so would we. How many more miracles will Jesus perform and what awaits us on this mission? Something tells me that these will not be peaceful times.
